File format information for GLTF and IFC
Detailed information about the source and target file formats, including their capabilities and specifications.
GLTF Format
glTF (GL Transmission Format): An open, JSON-based file format (.gltf) for efficient 3D model delivery. It supports geometry, materials, and animations, designed for web and cross-platform compatibility.
GLTF Converter Capabilities
When converting 3D model or mesh files using our GLTF converter, we will attempt to convert color materials into a suitable format for use in the converted file.
IFC Format
IFC (Industry Foundation Classes): An open file format (.ifc) for Building Information Modeling (BIM), used in architecture and construction. It stores detailed building data, including geometry and properties, for interoperability.

About the GLTF to IFC converter
FurniMesh's GLTF to IFC converter runs entirely in your browser using a WebAssembly glTF/3D-mesh pipeline — your file never leaves your tab, and the conversion completes in seconds for typical furniture-model files. Materials, UV maps, and scene hierarchy are preserved wherever the IFC format supports them. There's no sign-up (up to 20 conversions a day) and no watermark; files up to 50 MB — practical limits depend on your browser's available memory.
FurniMesh natively outputs four formats — GLB, OBJ, SKP (SketchUp 2017+), and BLEND (Blender 3.0+). Bridge conversion via this converter additionally produces FBX, STL, GLTF, 3DM (Rhino), PLY and OFF, and reads IFC, DAE, 3DS and 3MF files. Use the converter to bridge between supported formats — or skip the conversion step entirely if you don't have a source file yet (the FurniMesh library ships every model in all four native formats pre-rendered).
