How can I convert my GLTF file to 3DM?

How long does it take to convert my GLTF to 3DM?

Most GLTF to 3DM conversions complete in a few seconds for typical furniture-model files (a few MB to ~100 MB). The pipeline runs in your browser for most format pairs — no upload to a server, no roundtrip latency. For SKP and BLEND outputs the conversion runs server-side via the native Blender or SketchUp engine, with a hard 5-minute timeout per conversion; most server-side conversions finish in well under a minute.

What does the GLTF to 3DM conversion preserve?

Materials, UV maps, vertex normals, and scene hierarchy are preserved wherever the 3DM format supports them. STL is the exception — it is a geometry-only format by design and discards materials and UVs. GLB and GLTF preserve embedded textures inside the file; OBJ produces an accompanying MTL material descriptor; SKP groups components logically with materials applied; BLEND preserves the full Blender scene graph with modifiers.

How does converting GLTF to 3DM work?

In order to successfully convert a GLTF formatted file to the 3DM format, our converter tools will perform several initial checks to ensure the file provided is indeed a GLTF file. There are many files out there where the file type extension does not match the data contained within the file. Along with these file type checks, our tools will do additional checks to ensure the file is correctly formatted to match the provided file type.
