File format information for PLY and OFF
Detailed information about the source and target file formats, including their capabilities and specifications.
PLY Format
PLY (Polygon File Format): An open file format (.ply) for 3D data, storing polygonal geometry and properties like color or texture. Developed by Stanford University, it’s flexible for scientific and 3D applications.
PLY Converter Capabilities
When converting 3D model or mesh files using our PLY converter, we will attempt to convert color materials into a suitable format for use in the converted file.
OFF Format
OFF (Object File Format): A simple, open file format (.off) for 3D geometry, storing polygonal meshes with vertices and faces. It’s lightweight, mainly used in research and academic applications.
OFF Converter Capabilities
When converting 3D model or mesh files using our OFF converter, we will attempt to convert color materials into a suitable format for use in the converted file.

About the PLY to OFF converter
FurniMesh's PLY to OFF converter runs entirely in your browser using a WebAssembly glTF/3D-mesh pipeline — your file never leaves your tab, and the conversion completes in seconds for typical furniture-model files. Materials, UV maps, and scene hierarchy are preserved wherever the OFF format supports them. There's no sign-up, no watermark, no per-file size cap enforced by the UI — practical limits depend on your browser's available memory.
FurniMesh natively outputs four formats — GLB, OBJ, SKP (SketchUp 2017+), and BLEND (Blender 3.0+). Bridge conversion via this converter additionally produces FBX, STL, GLTF, 3DM (Rhino), IFC, DAE, PLY, OFF, 3DS, and 3MF. Use the converter to bridge between any combination — or skip the conversion step entirely if you don't have a source file yet (the FurniMesh library ships every model in all four native formats pre-rendered).
