File format information for GLB and STL
Detailed information about the source and target file formats, including their capabilities and specifications.
GLB Format
GLB (GL Transmission Format Binary): A binary file format (.glb) for 3D scenes and models, based on glTF. It's compact, includes textures and animations, and is optimized for web and real-time applications.
GLB Converter Capabilities
When converting 3D model or mesh files using our GLB converter, we will attempt to convert color materials into a suitable format for use in the converted file.
STL Format
STL (Stereolithography): A file format (.stl) for 3D printing and CAD, representing surface geometry as a mesh of triangles. It's simple, widely supported, but lacks color or texture data.
STL Converter Capabilities
When converting 3D model or mesh files using our STL converter, we will attempt to convert color materials into a suitable format for use in the converted file.

About the GLB to STL converter
FurniMesh's GLB to STL converter runs entirely in your browser using a WebAssembly glTF/3D-mesh pipeline — your file never leaves your tab, and the conversion completes in seconds for typical furniture-model files. Materials, UV maps, and scene hierarchy are preserved wherever the STL format supports them (note: STL is a geometry-only format and discards materials by design). There's no sign-up, no watermark, no per-file size cap enforced by the UI — practical limits depend on your browser's available memory.
FurniMesh natively outputs four formats — GLB, OBJ, SKP (SketchUp 2017+), and BLEND (Blender 3.0+). Bridge conversion via this converter additionally produces FBX, STL, GLTF, 3DM (Rhino), IFC, DAE, PLY, OFF, 3DS, and 3MF. Use the converter to bridge between any combination — or skip the conversion step entirely if you don't have a source file yet (the FurniMesh library ships every model in all four native formats pre-rendered).
