BLEND to DAE: how to convert Blender files
FurniMesh can't open .blend files or write DAE. Here's what to do instead.
Quick answer: FurniMesh can't open .blend files or create DAE files, and Blender 5.0 removed its DAE (COLLADA) exporter; Blender 4.5 LTS still has it (File → Export → Collada). Otherwise, export GLB from Blender (File → Export → glTF 2.0 (.glb/.gltf), then choose glTF Binary (.glb)) and use a 3D tool that writes DAE. Blender is free, so this route costs nothing.

How to convert BLEND to DAE
- Open the .blend file in Blender (free from blender.org).
- On Blender 4.5 LTS, select File → Export → Collada (.dae) and you're done. On newer versions, continue below.
- Select File → Export → glTF 2.0 (.glb/.gltf) and choose glTF Binary (.glb). This saves a GLB file, which most 3D tools can open.
- Open the GLB in a 3D tool that writes DAE. FurniMesh's converter doesn't produce DAE files.

File format information for BLEND and DAE
Detailed information about the source and target file formats, including their capabilities and specifications.
BLEND Format
BLEND (Blender): A proprietary file format (.blend) used by Blender 3D software. It stores complete 3D scenes including geometry, materials, textures, animations, and lighting. Ideal for professional 3D modeling and animation workflows.
BLEND Converter Capabilities
When converting 3D model or mesh files using our BLEND converter, we will attempt to convert color materials into a suitable format for use in the converted file.
DAE Format
DAE (Digital Asset Exchange): An open, XML-based file format (.dae) for 3D models, part of the COLLADA standard. It supports geometry, animations, and materials, used for interoperability between 3D tools.
DAE Converter Capabilities
When converting 3D model or mesh files using our DAE converter, we will attempt to convert color materials into a suitable format for use in the converted file.

About BLEND to DAE
FurniMesh writes BLEND files (from GLB, OBJ, FBX, STL and more files, or from a photo) but can't read them: opening a .blend file needs Blender. FurniMesh's converter doesn't write DAE either, so export GLB from Blender and use a tool that writes DAE.
